The lights are on!

And this is the first report from our meeting...

Dear colleagues

I am happy to report that we had our first prayer group today. Let me share what we discussed:

1. We come from many different church backgrounds. Forgive me in advance if I or anyone else accidentally offends.
Romans 14:1 Accept him (OK me lah) whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters.

2. What on earth are you doing in our company?

a. Earn a living for self, for family, for ministry/church/missions

b. But God can provide any way He wants. Why send you to work?

c. Because the office needs you.

d. More accurately, because your colleagues need you (and not just because you are the only one who knows how to fix the paper jam in the @#$% printer).

e. Because He has prepared good works in advance for you to do right here (Eph 2:10)

f. Yes, you are a very important person. So, maybe I am not VP, but I am VIP, so don't play play.

3. So, what to do, now that I know I am a VIP? Four levels of workplace Christianity:

a. level 1 - just surviving week to week, so that on Sunday, you still remember you are supposed to be in church

b. level 2 - applying biblical principles in your work, so that you are basically a Good Person.

c. level 3 - shining your light so that everyone who sees your good deeds will praise your Father in heaven (Matt 5:16). This is the most important part of being a Good Person. Doing good deeds with eternal consequences i.e. sharing the good news either by word or action

d. level 4 - transformational Christianity - changing the work paradigm of your office/vocation. Usually for people in positions of significant influence, but not always the case. Never forget, you are a VIP.

4. OK, talk so much, what's the prayer group for?

a. pray lah.

b. pray for, and encourage each other to move beyond level 1 and 2.

c. pray for people in authority

d. pray for each other's needs as they arise

e. other stuff we haven't quite figured out yet

Do feel free to invite colleagues who you think will be interested to attend, or who may need our prayers. In addition, please do not hesitate to let me know if you wish to be removed from this mailing list. There is no obligation whatsoever. Really. Not being sarcastic. Will not put you on a blacklist. Really. Really really :)

Finally, let me reiterate, once again:

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matt 5: 14-16

Let's switch on the lights!!!
